Good Omen For SAPP?

As the campaign for the Batu Sapi by election enter into its final day, the omen seems to be pointing towards a victory by SAPP.  This picture taken prior to nomination day carries a symbolic meaning as the three goats under the Batu Sapi landmark is known as "Yong" in Hakka.  With SAPP President Datuk Yong Teck Lee as the candidate, the talks among the elderly in Batu Sapi are that SAPP is the party for this by election.

For the voters a reminder to come out in full force and early to vote for a "Sabah Autonomy".

Batu Sapi awash with cash

EXCLUSIVE SANDAKAN: Banks here are reporting withdrawals of large sums of money of between RM500,000 and RM1 million since two days ago as voters in Batu Sapi decide which way to cast their ballots.

Those in the know said “towkays” were withdrawing large sums of cash and some banks here have been unable to facilitate such large withdrawals due to technicalities. According to banking sources, Bank Negara Malaysia has to be notified in some instances.

The the talk in town is that money started flowing into the water village settlements yesterday. Some estimate that up to RM5 million cash has been withdrawn from local banks in the past 72 hours.

According to a taxi driver, they (taxi drivers) are being given RM250 each and ordinary voters are getting RM150 each. The money is supposed to be for food, transport and logistics.

Those identified as “get-out-the-vote” organisers were reportedly given RM200 and they are expected to bring voters to the polling stations.
Several people said that they were promised RM100 to RM150 more as they cast their ballots.

This afternoon, a huge crowd gathered at the MCA operation centre here after talk spread that the party was giving “handouts” and groups of voters have been circulating around town this evening as word spreads that this or that group is handing out cash.

However, as the excitement spread, some who said they received RM150 were disappointed as they were told that they would be given RM400...more

Batu Sapi voters vent after missing cash handout

A group of mostly Chinese voters who gathered outside the MCA office in Sim Sim here today, purportedly to receive RM100 each in exchange for their votes, were turned away in disappointment after hours of waiting under the blazing afternoon sun.

The voters turned up in the hundreds, crowding around the back entrance of the office, jostling one another to inch their way up to the party office on the third floor.

When approached by The Malaysian Insider, several said they had received information that MCA was giving out RM100 to each registered voter in Batu Sapi.

"All we have to do is bring our MyKads and our voting slips or something," claimed one man. He noted that he had been standing in line for hours, from 11am this morning until nearly 3pm.

"I heard they ran out of cash," he claimed further.

Just before 3pm, however, word reached the crowd that the party was no longer giving out the money.

"Just imagine, this is how Barisan Nasional cares for the people. There is no longer any money to give the people but no one informed them and they just let them wait here for hours. So many people have fainted,” said Wong.

A large portion of the group turned away vented their frustration by cursing at MCA for failing to inform the waiting voters outside in advance.

"My vote will go to the opposition now. How could they do this to us? Making us wait out here in the terrible sun and not telling us what is going on," said one angry woman.

Several others were heard muttering similarly under their breath as they left the venue in a huff.

One man told The Malaysian Insider that during their long wait, a few people had fainted from heat and exhaustion.

One elderly lady, who was seated on a chair outside the office waiting for her turn, had apparently fallen off her chair and hit her head on the pavement when she fainted from the heat.

She was rushed off by the others who were waiting with her.

JANJI JANJI KOSONG DAN ANGPOW BN BERGERAK KETIKA INI

PEMBOHONGAN  dan janji kosong BN pada kebiasaannya terus menjadi jadi pada saat saat kempen sesuatu pilihanraya akan berakhir. Mereka buat janji apa saja dan kalau boleh termasuklah menjanjikan 'bulan dan bintang' asalkan RAKYAT terpedaya dengan tipu helah mereka.

Selain memberikan tangki, zing, mesin jahit, peralatan dapur dan wang ringgit sebagai 'angpow' pemimpin mereka juga terus lantang mengumumkan projek bermacam macam yang dkategorikan sebagai kelulusan 'atas kertas' dimana selepas itu ditinggalkan begitu sahaja.

Dakwaan seperti ini telah terbukti apabila Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib (ketika itu Menteri Pertahanan) mengumumkan projek pembinaan sebuah Hospital diNabawan Pensiangan pada tahun 1994 ketika beliau berkempen pada PRU 1994.

Selepas sahaja BN tewas kerana gagal menumbangkan kerajaan PBS secara demokrasi, Hospital yang dijanjikan tinggal 'sign board' sehingga sekarang. Bagaimana pun setelah didesak rakyat Pensiangan kerajaan BN dapat juga membina satu Klinik Malaysia diNabawan yang jauh lebih lengkap seperti yang dicadangkan.

Kelibat buruk BN itu sudah pasti akan terus menular di Parlimen Batu Sapi sama ada mereka menang atau sebaliknya. Peruntukkan RM15 juta untuk menaiktaraf jalanraya Sibuga dan pembinaan Masjid Batu Sapi berharga RM5 juta mungkin akan menjadi angan angan untuk selama lamanya.

RAKYAT khususnya pengundi Batu Sapi, harus pandai menilai berapa sakitnya HATI rakyat disitu yang tidak dipedulikan selama ini lalu menterjemahkan kesakitan hati mereka kepada pemberian undi untuk calon SAPP. Jangan sekali kali memberi muka kepada pemimpin yang suka bermuka muka ketika mereka memerlukan sokongan RAKYAT/PENGUNDI seperti BN.

HARI INI dalam catatan sejarah hitam bagi KEBEBASAN berakhbar di negara ini apabila BN telah menubuhkan Pusat Media diBatu Sapi yang merangkumi kakitangan siaran TV dan akhbar bagi ketiga tiga Bahasa iaitu Melayu, Cina dan Inggeris. Penubuhan pusat itu bertujuan konon untuk mengawal penyaluran bahan berita kepada pengundi dengan berita yang tepat sahaja termasuk berita daripada pihak pembangkang.

Difahamkan bahawa kerajaan telah menggunakan peruntukkan dibawah Jabatan Ketua Menteri Sabah untuk membiayai segala kos pengurusan termasuk lain lain bayaran kerana pusat itu mahu menguasai semua saluran Media khas untuk prk Batu Sapi tidak bebas digunakan oleh Media pembangkang.

Trend seumpama ini dengan menyekat KEBEBASAN berakhbar jelas menunjukkan bahawa kerajaan telah bersikap 'kuku besi' dan 'diktaktor' kerana tidak mengamalkan sikap keterbukaan mengikut lunas lunas DEMOKRASI yang tulen, sebaliknya mereka (BN) hanya bersandiwara di depan mata RAKYAT konon merekalah JUARA segala DEMOKRASI.

Apakah RAKYAT Sabah terus membiarkan keadaan seperti ini berterusan atau RAKYAT harus bertindak berani menolak sahaja BN dalam prk Batu Sapi sebagai pengajaran kepada kesombongan dan keegoan mereka. Hanya dengan bertindak sedemikian maka MARUAH rakyat Sabah akan dapat dikembalikan kerana RAKYAT tidak perlu tunduk kepada kemahuan mereka untuk menindas RAKYAT Sabah yang kita cintai.

KERAJAAN BN harus mengerti bahawa sekalipun pembangkang turut menumpang penggunaan teknologi Media terkini tetapi bukanya dibuat secara PERCUMA tetapi pembangkang juga turut melakukan pembayaran sepertimana yang dikehendaki mengikut TERMA dan SYARAT kerajaan.

Sekiranya kerajaan melakukan pengawalan penyaluran bahan berita khususnya dari pembangkang sudah tentulah berita pembangkang itu diubahsuai kearah yang negative yang boleh memesongkan pemahaman pembaca/pengikutnya. Bererti kerajaan BN boleh melakukan perkara 'bias' dan berniat jahat kepada pembangkang berhubung apa apa berita yang dikeluarkan. Apakah ini suatu amalan DEMOKRASI yang tulen, jujur, telus dan bebas berakhbar!

Blocking opposition news from reaching the media

Barisan Nasional (BN) set up a Media Centre in Batu Sapi comprising RTM, TV crews, Malay, Chinese and English newspapers reporters. The Chief Minister's Department is apparently abusing government funds to pay off and control the mainstream media for the Batu Sapi by-election campaign. With the help from the Information Dept., all news must be scrutinised to provide exclusive coverage for BN but filtered or cut for news from the Opposition mainly aimed at SAPP. Is this called Freedom of the Press and Media?







BN wins on paper, but Yong wins hearts

Gauging local sentiment in Batu Sapi is easy. Distaste for Barisan Nasional runs deep. According to conventional wisdom, that should translate into a protest vote? Not so fast.
Predicting the outcome of the Nov 4 parliamentary by-election is a dicey business.

Suffice to say whatever the outcome, the margin of difference between the three battling parties -- BN, Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) and PKR -- will set the stage for the 13th general election scheduled for before 2012.

After all as a much respected Sabah leader Jeffrey Kitingan has pointedly told voters, “this is a only a by-election, vote for the opposition -- give any opposition a chance -- and we shall see if the government of the day will do something to recapture the trust of the people and show Sabahans that they are sincere.”

On paper, BN's looking good -- with some 4,000-odd votes seemingly “already in its pockets” courtesy of postal votes and 3,000 Muslim Bumiputera loyalists.

In the final thrust, which began yesterday, generous lacings of cash, citizenships and infrastructure such as jetties, mosques and solar lights are promises being quickly fulfilled.

But on the ground, the rumblings and rousing welcomes are reserved for SAPP's Yong Teck Lee, whose “Sabah for Sabahans" slogan is stirring the imagination of the weary poverty-stricken constituency.

Yong is aiming for 80% Chinese votes and 25% Muslim Bumiputeras votes to create that Sibu-style upset that BN does not want to see.

Still, measuring how far the electorates' support for Yong and disgust for Chief Minister Musa Aman's regime will translate into votes, is a task best left to self-professed political observers and the clairvoyant.

Promises that never materialised

Meanwhile voters, especially the Muslim Bumiputeras who constitute some 60% of the electorate in this vast constituency that is half the size of Johor, appear resigned to their fate.

First, it was the all-powerful and now defunct United Sabah National Organisation (Usno, which by the way, is trying to make a comeback), and then came Berjaya Party in the 1970s.

Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) grabbed the baton in the 1980s and Umno and the BN stole it in the 1990s.

All had something in common. They promised something better but that “something” never came. The people are still poor, lack basic facilities and face a bleak future.

But they persevered with hope and repeatedly voted these same parties that were giving them nothing despite the state's riches.

That's the way it has always been. But they have not been cowed and latest ground reports are whispering change.

Yong the candidate is also the rebel-rousing president of SAPP and he's being lifted by a wave of anti-establishment, anti-federal government sentiment akin to what was first seen when Usno and then Berjaya fell.

Unfortunately, all it means is that the people of Batu Sapi and Sabahans are fed up with being dictated to by non-Sabahans.

And that's bad news for the Kuala Lumpur-based Umno-BN and PKR -- which is testing its influence here in Sabah for the first time.

In 1985, PBS won because of that same sentiment -- a feeling that Sabah should have its own way. Now, if the annoyed talk is any indication, that sentiment is back.

"There's no one else to turn to… Going back to the founding fathers of PBS, who is there? Yong is one," said a local who has followed the political meanderings of the various parties.

"SAPP is the key to getting back at KL for all the broken promises. It (the local sentiment of Sabah for Sabahans) is boiling up again. It used to be with PBS… people were attached to PBS. But they lost (the) sympathy (of Sabahans) when they joined BN.

"You go and ask people. People don't respect Pairin (PBS leader Joseph Pairin Kitingan). They don't trust Dompok (Bernard Dompok, the Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister and the president of the United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun and Murut Organisation) and Maximus (Ongkili, the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister).

"They are all seen as BN and federal government proxies. There are no good Sabah leaders left," he said.

'What have we got after 16 years?'

Adding to that, he said many of those locals from the west coast who migrated to the east coast of the state are frustrated with PBS.

"They won't support PBS now even if its the Huguan Siou (paramount leader) asking them... now there is only Yong. He is still seen as a bona fide Sabah leader who the people hope has the courage to speak out on Sabah issues."

Yong's continued attack on Sabah BN leaders for failing to fight for the state's autonomy despite holding top positions in the ruling coalition at national level as well as the recent expose that the federal government had allegedly surrendered some of its oil wealth to Brunei for little in return, has swelled his base.

That's the way Sabahans are. Like anyone else, they will give you a fair chance and sometimes even more than a fair chance and punish you if you take them for granted the way Musa's BN seems to have done.

"What have we got after all these years (16 years of Umno/BN rule to be exact?)," asked a local attached to a semi-government agency in Sandakan.

"We've got a few flyovers, lots of small cell phone shops, a few more empty malls… what else? There's still power cuts, water shortages, petrol prices have gone up. Food is more costly… Is this development? Sixteen years and this is all? I hope BN falls," he said angrily.

Questioned a little more and he said: "I don't like BN but they will win. I have put five RM5,000 on them to win and I think I will make some money but if I lose, I will still be happy."

If Batu Sapi voters deliver the winning result that strategists in both opposition parties expect, the implications for Sabah remain a mystery.

An opposition victory or even a good showing will reflect a repudiation of the Umno-BN rule in Sabah. BY FMT Staff

Wanita Umno's spending spree 'not a bribe' ?

"The Election Commission is convinced that the RM20 disbursed recently to many people prior to a Wanita Umno dinner at Batu Sapi, Sabah, was not to buy votes.

Contacted today, chairperson Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof also said such claims are hard to prove.

"We hear a lot about this, people giving bicycles and food. They can say it is for all sorts of reasons. Look at PAS, they say the RM250 for out-of-town (Galas) voters is not a bribe, but transport allowance," he said in a lengthy phone interview.  "

In other words, the EC allows the BN to buy votes openly? This is our democratic world here!

Jangan menggadaikan maruah diri anda kerana rasuah undi

PRINSIP perjuangan BN dalam kempennya di PRK Batu Sapi dilihat lebih terfokus kepada pembelaan kemiskinan RAKYAT dan pembangunan infrastruktur serta kemudahan awam terutamanya rumah ibadah dengan kos berjuta juta ringgit tetapi apakah ia benar benar akan direalisasikan selepas prk ini atau sekadar diatas kertas sepertimana pernah berlaku di masa lampau.

Selain itu, tidak kurang juga usaha lain serentak dilaksanakan seperti program kemasyarakatan untuk menaiktaraf hidup rakyat dengan menghantar beberapa Pegawainya masuk kampung keluar kampung menemui rakyat dengan memberitahu bahawa mereka (rakyat) akan dibantu itu dan ini termasuk bantuan zing yang diagih agihkan difahamkan seorang keluarga mendapat agihan 10 keping zing.

Sementara dari aspek memesatkan  PEMBANGUNAN tampak jelas pemimpin pemimpin berkuasa eksekutif BN tidak melepaskan peluang mengumumkan projek projek MEGA seperti pembinaan Masjid di Batu Sapi berharga RM 6 juta dan menaiktaraf jalanraya Sibuga RM15 juta.

Implikasi pengumuman itu yang sedap didengar pengundi sudah tentulah akan mendorong pengundi Batu Sapi  akan mengundi calon BN Datin Linda Tsen pada November 4. jika pengundi masih percaya dan yakin bahawa pengumuman itu dilakukan secara TELUS dan bukan sekadar STRATEGI meraih undi semata mata.

Namun persoalan lain, bagaimana pula jeti jeti dan jambatan di Kg Air Bokara yang sudah mengalami kerosakan teruk dengan serba kedaifan sejak lebih 10 tahun lalu? Difahamkan masyarakat Bokara yang terdiri daripada kesukuan Suluk, Bajau, dan Sungai ada yang sudah hilang kesabaran kerana tindak tanduk pemimpin BN tidak selari dengan aspirasi rakyat yang mahukan pembangunan pesat di situ tetapi sekadar ditabur dengan janji janji KOSONG..

SELAIN  mengalami pelbagai kedaifan, masalah lain seperti rumah rumah terbakar lebih 10 keluarga sekitar tahun 2001 masih belum diuruskan oleh kerajaan BN termasuk status geran tanah yang sering ditagih rakyat di situ tetapi sehingga kini masih berstatus TOL.

IRONINYA, kerajaan BN yang telah bertapak di Sabah sejak tahun 1994 iaitu kira kira 16 tahun lalu mengapa masih ada pembangunan yang terpenting di kawasan Parlimen Batu Sapi tertinggal dari senarai keutamaan jika BN benar benar ikhlas dan prihatin keatas pembangunan di Batu Sapi.

Di sepanjang jalan pintas antara Bandar atu 8 menuju ke pesisir pantai Batu Sapi akan terpampang kejelikan mata memandang yang tiada apa apa kemajuan dibangunkan bermula dari Taman Poh Hing, Kg Karamunting, Taman riadah Pasir Putih termasuk sebuah Restoran terkemuka Ocean King dimana susunatur lanskap dan jalanraya masih diparas tidak memuaskan.

Rakyat dan pengundi Batu Sapi berhak mempersoalkan keikhlasan kerajaan BN bahawa selama 16 tahun BN berkuasa di Sabah khususnya di Parlimen Batu Sapi tidak ada satu pun Industri besar dibina di sini selain lambakan ‘trawler’ berlabuh di tepi tepi pantai yang tidak diketahui asal usulnya.

WAJARKAH rakyat Batu Sapi memberi muka BN di Batu Sapi dalam PRK kali ini yang rakyat dan pengundinya yang sudah TERLUKA sekian lama memendam perasaan? Terpulanglah kepada mereka untuk menentukannya kerana apa pun keputusan dicapai adalah HAK PENGUNDI untuk menentukannya.

Chua the one promoting hatred

Kota Kinabalu: Common Interest Group Malaysia (CigMa) on Monday said MCA President Datuk Dr Chua Soi Lek is wrong in saying that fighting for Sabah's special rights is promoting hatred.

Its deputy chairman said it is Chua who is promoting hatred by denying Sabahans from asserting their rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement and its founding instrument, the 20 points.

While the embattled MCA President is not wrong in saying that development should be the centre stage, he should explain why after half a century Sabah is the least developed in Malaysia," he said in a statement.

He said Sabah and Sarawak were once among the richest states in the country but now the poorest and has the highest number of hardcore poor in the country. He called on Chua to explain the reason.

Singapore, he said, do not have the natural resources that Sabah and Sarawak possesses and yet is more developed than Malaysia.

Sabah, he believed, would have been more developed and progressive with higher per capita income if it were allowed to manage the State by itself.

Rais said NO to 'Sabah for Sabahans'

Rais: No, no, no way!

SIAPA kata slogan ‘Sabah for Sabahan’ (SFS) tidak berpijak dibumi nyata jikalau pemimpin Persekutuan terus menerus enggan mendengar rintihan RAKYAT Sabah yang inginkan keadilan  dan kesaksamaan seperti yang terkandung didalam 20 Perkara.

Menteri Penerangan Komunikasi dan Kebudayaan, Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim  harus sedar bahawa Sabah dan Sarawak menyertai pembentukkan Malaysia kira kira 47 tahun lalu tetapi hak Sabah dari segi kuasa autonomi dan hak mendapat pengagihan kekayaan sumber galian asli dan gas tidak pernah selesai malah ‘janji janji kosong’.

Taktik mereka yang terbaru lagi yang menyakitkan hati rakyat Sabah ialah apabila isu hak autonomi dan "SFS" dibangkitkan mereka kata itu isu lapok dan sudah basi. Kami rakyat Sabah ingin bertanya Datuk Rais, apakah kami rakyat Sabah tidak berhak menagih janji janji Persekutuan yang belum tertunai supaya ditunaikan? Harus maklum bahawa  Sabah bukan merdeka di bawah Malaysia tetapi Sabah merdeka bersama Malaya dan membantu pembentukkan MALAYSIA.

Rais cuba mengeruhkan lagi suasana politik di Sabah khususnya prk Batu Sapi apabila beliau menyifatkan ada pihak yang sengaja membangkitkan isu 'Sabah For Sabahan' (SFS) dan autonomi untuk meraih sokongan politik tetapi sebenarnya dalam sesuatu prk isu seperti ini termasuklah kegagalan kerajaan mestilah timbul kalau tidak takkan lah pembangkang berkempen memuji puji BN pula.

Beliau berkata isu berkenaan bukan sahaja lapuk dan muncul apabila ada pilihanraya termasuk pilihan raya kecil Parlimen Batu Sapi, tetapi juga sebenarnya cuma membicarakan perkara yang langsung tidak berkaitan dengan isu kenegaraan.

Seperkara lagi, apabila Rais menyentuh Perkara 161, Perlembagaan Malaysia, perkara (kedudukan Sabah) yang sudah diputuskan dan akan terus diamalkan di tanah air, Rais gagal meneliti kehendak Rakyat Sabah ketika menguatarakan isu hak kuasa autonomi dan SFS ia bukan menyentuh Perkara 161 tetapi disebabkan ia sudah tersurat dan tersirat dalam Perlembagaan mengapa pelaksanaannya dilengah lengahkan lagi, itulah yang ditagih Rakyat Sabah sekarang.

Menurut Rais, 20 Perkara yang disebutkan dahulu sudah selesai kecuali beberapa perkara yang berkaitan dengan penempatan pegawai namun itupun cuma pada peringkat-peringkat tertentu dan ianya sedang diatur dengan baik Tetapi bila?

BN using DAP?

Tham to Musa: "To be safe, we have to finish off Yong"

The DAP, which is campaigning for PKR candidate Ansari Abdullah, can ruin SAPP candidate Yong Teck Lee's increasingly possible chances of an upset win.

"BN's aim is to use DAP to split the Chinese vote that may go to SAPP. DAP claims it can deliver about 2,000 Chinese votes to PKR,” said the party worker.

The PKR camp, meanwhile, believes that its candidate stands a good chance if it can get 40% of the Bumiputera and about 20% of the Chinese vote

According to sources, Yong, who has up to 80% of the Chinese vote with his “Sabah for Sabahans” campaign drumbeat, is looking to get at least 20% of the Bumiputera vote through Nahalan Damsal (a former state minister and ex-PKR Batu Sapi chief, who has voiced his support for Yong rather than for Ansari).

Nahalan still commands respect in Sekong, one of the two state constituencies that make up Batu Sapi. Though defeated, he garnered 2,082 votes when he went up against current Sekong Assemblyman Samsuddin Yahya in the last general election.

Sabah Pakatan Rakyat's candidate for Batu Sapi, Ansari Abdullah, brushed aside talk of being the weakest contestant in this by-election, saying the opposition coalition is more than capable of taking the fight to BN come polling day this Nov 4.

The veteran politician is confident of his chances, stressing that PKR secured more votes than rivals SAPP and BN component party PBS in the 2008 general election.

“PKR got more votes than SAPP and PBS put together. People seem to forget we got more than 120,000 votes in the last election,” he said in a Malaysiakini exclusive interview. more

Joint Attack by 2 giants

Earlier in the day, SAPP candidate for Batu Sapi, Yong, felt the growing following among constituents as he can see it in their body language.

"The way they smile, embrace, the welcoming signs and how they look at me, I can tell they are on my side," he said, adding that the number of volunteers trailing him have also grown since nomination day.

The former Chief Minister said the BN coalition and Pakatan Rakyat realise the growing popularity for SAPP and are now in cahoots to topple him by making personal attacks in the media.

"It's a joint attack by them because they do not wish to see a Sabah party taking control of the State ... two giants going against a small party like SAPP," he said.

"I think whatever they are trying to do, it will backfire on them. The people will be able to see this," Yong added.

Yong seeks more clarification on deal

Sandakan: Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) candidate Datuk Yong Teck lee claims the people are not fully convinced over the explanations on the "loss" of oil blocks L and M bordering Brunei.

In this regard, he said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman should explain if it is true that the loss is linked to a proposed commercial project politically linked to Umno.

He said the people have the right to know whether the "deal" involving three million acres of the maritime territory has something to do with the visit of the Sultan of Brunei to Sabah from Feb 3 to 5, 2009, as it happened the month before the Exchange of Letters were held in Brunei on March 16.

"It was widely believed by Sandakan people at the time that a politically-linked commercial project had just been reclaimed along the coast and was waiting for the visit of the Sultan," he claimed.

Speaking after the event which was supposed to be a public debate between SAPP and the BN led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman at the Hakka Hall, Sunday, Yong said the questions came about following Foreign Minister Datuk Anifah Aman response when SAPP's MP Datuk Dr Chua Soon Bui queried the matter.

In his answer in Parliament in June, Anifah disclosed that the solution of the maritime boundary dispute with Brunei was agreed in principle to be settled at the meeting between the then Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Badawi and Brunei Sultan in Johor on Aug 26, 2008.

Yong said Anifah quoted the United Convention of Law of the Sea 1982 on continent shelf to justify Malaysia's loss of Blocks L and M, but Yong said nowhere in the Convention was it stated that one coastal nation must surrender its sovereign rights to another nation.

Instead, Article 76 of UNCLOS 1982 provided for a joint-commission to the UN Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf fo the Commission to make recommendations on the outer limits of their continental shelf.

"It is this UN Commission which will decide the maritime territory of member states based on data, charts and other relevant technical information submitted by the countries concerned," he said.
According to Yong, there is a precedent when Malaysia made a joint submission with Vietnam to the UN Commission on August 27, 2009 (a different issue but similar characteristic).

"Why was this not done with our neighbour Brunei?" he asked.

Blocks L and M now known as CA1 and CA2 really belonged to Malaysia because it was part of the maritime territory for Sabah, he said, adding if it was not then how could Petronas give the exploration rights to a US company prior to this.

Kenapa Ismaily baru sekarang bertanya?

KENYATAAN dan ulasan Penulis Veteran Sdra. Ismaily Bungsu bertajuk “ Kenapa baru sekarang Yong bersuara?” merupakan suatu pertanyaan yang agak janggal tetapi perlu juga dijawab yang sudah pasti Ismaily sudah menduga jawapannya yang sama rentak jika soalan dikemukakan kepada Ismaily “kenapa baru sekarang bertanya kenapa tidak dulu sebelum prk” kerana isu ini sering dibangkitkan Datuk Yong sebelum prk Batu Sapi.

Antara lain dipersoalkan Ismaily ialah  DULU, semasa jadi Ketua Menteri Sabah, Datuk Seri Panglima Yong Teck Lee, bagaikan ‘tidak berlidah’ kerana tidak berbicara langsung soal ‘20 perkara’ dan ‘Autonomi’; lalu kenapa bagaikan orang terkena ‘sawan’ mula bercakap dan menghina BN dan segala macam tidak adil?

Tahukah Ismaily kenapa Datuk Yong keluar meninggalkan BN sekitar tahun 2008? Kalau tidak, selagi Yong berada dalam gagasan BN isu autonomi dan 20 Perkara tidak boleh dibincang secara terbuka kerana konon BN ada kod etika yang melarang kerabat partinya melakukan seperti itu dan Yong dengan rendah diri akur peraturan kod etika itu.

Setelah bosan dan bagaikan dipenjara haknya bersuara Yong mengambil keputusan untuk meninggalkan BN kerana sudah tidak tahan kelibat dan gelagat buruk pemimpin pemimpin BN yang membuatkan Yong dalam keadaan serba salah dalam memperjuangkan hak asasi rakyat Sabah.

Sama juga kes yang berlaku dengan beberapa pemimpin LDP yang lainnya terpaksa meminta suaka politik parti komponen lain dan ada pula seorang Timbalan Ketua Menteri Sabah tetapi tidak berparti hanya kerana menentang sikap ‘kuku besi’ Musa Aman yang tidak memberi muka langsung kepada parti parti kerabatnya menyuarakan ketidak puasan hati mereka terhadap kepimpinan dan Pentadbiran Musa.

Ismaily sekali lagi celupar tidak bertempat apabila menyoal Yong konon, Apakah Yong berangan sekali lagi menjadi ‘CM’ seperti katanya, ‘Chief Minister In Waiting’? Sebenarnya Yong tidak berangan menjadi KM apalagi mengungkapkan perkataan “Chief Minister In Waiting” jauh sekali yang mungkin Ismaily terlalu emosi dan tersilap memetiknya.

Berangan sangat menjadi KM seperti yang ditegaskan Ismaily agak keterlaluan untuk mengutuk Yong tetapi beliau sekadar berangan untuk berjuang terus berjuang untuk membela hak asasi rakyat Sabah yang semakin tertindas. Kalau tidak Yong melakukannya siapa lagi yang boleh diharapkan menggalas tanggung jawab dalam mengembalikan hak rakyat Sabah.

Mengenai tuduhan Ismaily konon Yong kepingin sangat mahu menduduki kerusi KM tanpa melihat di Sabah ini majoritinya siapa? Angan-angan ‘Mat Jenin’ Yong bakal terjatuh sendirinya nanti. Sebenarnya Ismaily terlalu sakit hati kerana emosinya yang berkobar kobar takut jawatan KM jatuh ketangan Yong. Tetapi sekalipun Ismaily menahan rezeki Yong kalau pengundi sudah bertekad untuk mengangkat Yong apa pula salahnya kerana Yong juga tergolong dalam bangsa 1Malaysia…Ismaily bagaimana?

NAMPAKNYA kelibat politik Ismaily cepat dapat dikesan kerana dalam nada dan ayat beliau gunakan bolehlah disimpulkan bahawa beliau mahu rakyat Batu Sapi menolak Yong sebaliknya mengalihkan undi dan sokongan kepada Haji Ansari yang kononnya Ansari seorang Peguam dan berpengalaman walaupun Ismaily akui Ansari berasal dari Tuaran.

Kalau itulah persoalannya, sama ada Ansari atau Yong adalah kedua duanya sama dari segi pengalaman sebagai Peguam tetapi Yong mempunyai kelebihan kerana pernah menjadi KM…Ansari tidak pernah malah jadi wakil rakyat pun tidak pernah sejak tahun 1980an.

Dalam soalan jawatan perniagaan dalam kerajaan adalah perkara biasa kerana biar pun ia adik beradik dalam satu keluarga sama seperti Tan Sri Pairin dan Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan memang lumrah didalam politik dinegara ini dan ia bukan suatu perkara yang baru bah sudah pernah berlaku sebelum ini.

Strategi BN sudah mula main kotor?

KEMUNCAK penentuan ibarat ‘menghitung hari’ siapakah bakal dinobatkan pengundi Parlimen Batu Sapi sebagai ‘Wakil Rakyat Baru’ untuk 30 bulan lagi  setelah hanya kira kira 60 jam dari sekarang percaturan politik diprk Batu Sapi akan ditutup.

Kerancakan mengatur langkah dan strategi dipusingan terakhir bagi setiap parti parti politik yang bertanding seperti BN, PR dan SAPP nampak jelas begitu ketara sekali kesibukannya sehinggakan ada calon yang kebingungan kerana program debat sini dan debat sana akhirnya calon PKR Haji Ansari tersesat ‘venue’.

Haji Ansari pada mulanya menyangkakan perhimpunan SAPP di Dewan Serbaguna Hakka Batu 6 pada Ahad yang dihadiri kira kira lebih 2,000 orang itu adalah ‘venue’ debat diantara Ketua Menteri Sabah Datuk Musa Aman dengan Calon SAPP Batu Sapi Datuk Yong Teck Lee  tetapi sebenarnya debat itu telah dibatalkan.

Bagaimana pun, Ansari setelah dimaklumkan Setiausaha Agung SAPP Datuk Richard Yong bahawa  debat itu telah dibatalkan beliau telah meninggalkan tempat itu walaupun dipelawa untuk duduk dikerusi depan selaku tetamu kehormat untuk mengikuti ceramah politik disitu.

Sementara itu, dipihak BN pula petugas parti itu kini sibuk mengatur strategi lain dalam usaha terakhir menarik seberapa ramai pengundi Batu Sapi untuk memihak/mengundi kepada calon BN Datin Linda Tsen pada November 4.

Dikawasan perkampongan pengundi Bumiputra islam kelihatan beberapa tompok dan longgokan barangan peralatan rumah seperti zing dan lain lain konon untuk membantu rakyat yang memerlukan bantuan.

Manakala dua hari lepas, satu senario dapat dilihat menerusi rakaman video amatur dimana seorang pemimpin wanita Umno kelihatan mengagih agihkan ‘angpow’ kepada pengundi disuatu kawasan yang tidak disebut namanya.

Bagaimana pun ramai yang mengucap syukur kerana ‘trend’ seumpama itu tidak berlaku kepada SAPP yang setakat ini boleh dikatakan rekod SAPP di prk Batu Sapi adalah bersih dan bebas daripada amalan RASUAH.

Is Ansari a Musa plant?

SANDAKAN: Days into the Batu Sapi by-election campaign and a new scenario has surfaced. Is there a secret pact between Chief Minister Musa Aman and candidate Ansari Abdullah to finish off for good Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) president Yong Teck Lee?

Is this the reason PKR has remained quiet over Musa's scathing dismissal of Yong's call to a debate on Sabah? Is this the reason Umno has been less derisive of Ansari than of Yong?

Now political observers are asking why the PKR camp let Musa off the hook by watering down Yong's initial challenge to Musa, the opposition's main target.

"PKR shouldn't have done that," said a former politician who requested anonymity.

"It's as though PKR wanted to take the heat off Musa and Barisan Nasional. Is it a ploy?"

Yong has been a painful thorn in Musa's side dating back to the days of prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

And Yong is also, if not more, a serious threat to (Sabah) DAP – a Pakatan Rakyat coalition partner.
Yong casts a long shadow over Sabah's Chinese community.

In fact, if current ground response to Yong's name is any measure, he is indeed the people-savvy “taiko” that the media has made him out to be.

But unlike Sabah DAP, Yong's reach is not limted to just the Chinese. Response to his roadshows here in Muslim Bumiputera areas in the run-up to the Batu Sapi by-election is rousing.

Here, Yong is also a threat to PKR, which is seen as nothing more than a spoiler to the real tussle between SAPP and BN candidate Linda Tsen.

Whatever may be said of Yong's political 'shenanigans and past failures', to the man on the street he's been the most familar face since 2008, when as then chief minister he boldly pulled SAPP out from the Sabah BN government on a matter of principle. A threat perhaps to Umno-BN?

In the murky world of Sabah politics, famed for its betrayals which spawned the term “katak”, we may yet again see strange bedfellows.

Aman family

So what's in this Musa-Ansari pact?

Given his close ties with the Aman family dating back to the 1990s, comments on the blogs place Ansari as a “Musa plant” in which case Umno and PKR, at least at state level, are in cohorts against Yong.

A politically dead Yong would be a blessing for Sabah BN and a guarantee of Musa's hold on Sabah.

Ansari has a chequered past. He left Berjaya and joined the newly formed Sabah Umno in the 1990s. He quit Umno in the late 1990s and joined Bersekutu, a newly formed local party said to be linked to former Berjaya leaders.

Anifah Aman, who is Foreign Minister, was allegedly supposed to join him (Ansari) in the new party but for some reasons changed his mind.

Still, their friendship didn't end there. Ansari's name has time and again been linked to the Aman family.
Perhaps it is just coincidence that everytime Anifah went on official visits to Indonesia, Brunei or China, Ansari was also away.

Perhaps it is just speculation about Ansari's “consistent flow of cash” since his legal practice on the fringe of Kota Kinabalu (where he is based) is allegedly “low key”.

Some observers view Ansari's political moves as opportunistic. They've also speculated that Ansari's link to the wealthy Aman brothers is the reason he has PKR vice-president Azmin Ali's support.

"Ansari knows where and how to get the money. In the last general election, he was loaded. He even bought a brand new four-wheel-drive after he came back from China. Some PKR leaders were asking where he got the money.

"That's why people say he is being fed by Anifah. Anifah was in China at the time of Ansari's China trip too," said a source.

Loyalty issue

This has raised suspicions among some PKR members about Ansari's loyalty to the party.
His most recent statement denying a pact between Sabah PKR and SAPP and claiming that PKR was prepared to “give way” to SAPP to contest against BN on a one-on-one basis came as a surprise to party insiders.

"When Anwar (Ibrahim, PKR de factor leader) asked Yong to step aside... it was clear that PKR was moving in. There was no question of giving way to SAPP.

"If that was the idea, then Anwar would have waited till after the joint meeting. When both parties met they had agreed the common enemy was BN... and they were aiming to break BN's support.

"But somewhere between that joint meeting in Penampang and now, things have changed," said a PKR insider, who added that rumours of Sabah money being channelled to support certain leaders in the current PKR party elections were also rife.

Meanwhile, the notable absence of PKR Sabah's point man Jeffrey Kitingan in Ansari's campaign has also further fuelled rumours of a probable “Musa-Ansari pact”.

"Jeffrey doesn't work with him (Ansari)... and there are many other leaders here too who avoided him... isn't that strange?" asked a PKR supporter.  By Michael Kaung

(TV Antara) - Ketua Angkatan Muda Keadilan Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin berlepas ke Hong Kong sebentar tadi untuk mendesak Badan Pencegah Rasuah Hong Kong menyoal siasat sekutu Ketua Menteri Sabah Musa Aman berhubung kes penyeludupan dan pengurupan wang RM16juta.

Michael Chia ditahan di Hong Kong pada Ogos lalu di Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa di Hong Kong apabila cuba berlepas dari wilayah China itu menuju Kuala Lumpur, membawa wang berkenaan.

Shamsul mengesahkan beliau akan membuat laporan terhadap Chia dengan pihak berkuasa Hong Kong esok. Laporan itu bertujuan mendesak supaya siasatan terperinchi dijalankan terhadap Chia dan Musa bersabit wang berkenaan.

Wang itu dikatakan mempunyai hubung kait dengan lesen membalak di Sabah yang membawa pulangan lumayan kepada ahli politik Barisan Nasional di negeri itu.

BN unleashes banner slander on Yong Teck Lee

The Batu Sapi campaign dynamics takes a turn again as BN launches an all-out banner war against SAPP candidate Yong Teck Lee to try to stem the tide of Chinese support going his way.

The BN's publicity machinery has plastered the town, in particular Chinese-majority areas, with countless banners in Chinese attacking Yong's credibility by indirectly calling him “evil” and a two-faced “politikus”, a play on the Malay word for 'rat'.

A couple of banners also touched on the Saham Amanah Sabah (SAS) scandal that plagued Yong's tenure as Sabah chief minister from 1997 to 1998.

One reads, “Because the mandate was given to a politikus, the people's trust fund has 'returned to Holland'” (right), employing a Chinese metaphor to mean the money is long gone.

Another goes, “You cheat your way towards Sabah autonomy, so that you can do evil again”, while yet another, “When you enter BN on your knees, you say BN is good, but when you quit BN, it is bad”.

The SAPP president however anticipated the attack, making sure a few days ago to blame Umno for the SAS debacle where the trust fund value plunged from RM1 per share to as low as RM0.17 each, causing local investors losses in millions of ringgit.

The former BN party is sticking close to their 'Sabah for Sabahans' and Sabah autonomy slogans, putting up hand-painted banners that accused the federal government of misdeeds against the Borneo state.

One banner reads, “No matter big or small, things have to be approved by KL. How much dignity has Sabah left?”, while another accuses Umno of talking all of Sabah's petroleum, leaving the state as the poorest in Malaysia.

PKR miracle or sacrifice?

PKR meanwhile are confident that they have a foot in the race with the majority bumiputera Muslim voter base, traditionally a BN goldmine for support.

Despite a relatively modest print campaign compared to their opponents', with only PKR flags and posters of their candidate Ansari Abdullah, the Pakatan Rakyat is optimistic of gaining support from both the Chinese and bumiputera Muslims.

PKR election director Fuziah Salleh told Malaysiakini that PKR is enjoying increased Chinese support in Batu Sapi.

Rather than jump into the banner slander war, she said they are instead launching a publicity campaign targeted at bumiputeras to convince them that they have nothing to lose in voting for the opposition, since they have gained little from having supported BN for so long.

To reach out to more Chinese voters, Pakatan has run full page advertisements in local Chinese dailies listing their many achievements in the states taken by the coalition in the watershed March 2008 general election.

A PKR source however admitted that they are still open to working with SAPP to take down their common enemy, if SAPP manages to sweep the Chinese votes that make up nearly 40 percent of the electorate.

“If we find that SAPP controls most of the Chinese voters, we will consider giving up on the battle and instead concentrate our efforts on getting more BN bumiputera voters to help Yong Teck Lee win, because our main target is BN.

“But if we find that we are gaining Chinese votes, we will go all out in that segment and hopefully achieve a miracle in Batu Sapi,” the source said. By Joseph Sipalan & Kuek Ser Kuang Keng

For RM20...Remember to vote for BN!

At an Umno Wanita community dinner function in Batu Sapi last night, RM20 was distributed to individuals who had registered their particulars with the organisers.

This was video-recorded by Malaysiakini after receiving a tip-off from locals in the area that money was changing hands at a 40-table dinner function in SMK Agama Sandakan located in Taman Mawar, Batu Sapi.

Majlis Ramah Mesra, which was hosted by Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, was packed with BN supporters clad in party colours of blue, red and white sporting the familiar scale symbol and the Umno logo.

Just before the event kicked off, however, individuals had queued up at a registration table to have their names, contact details and party affiliations recorded before getting 'redeemed' RM20 in cash.

Though the stage backdrop at the dinner stated that it was organised for members of Wanita Umno machinery, many of those in attendence were middle-aged Chinese men and women.

When asked as to why those queuing were in line, those interviewed - including one 'aunty' who said she is a voter - said they wanted to “collect money”.

“It is for voters. You need just to show your MyKad to prove that you are a voter in order to get the money,” said the lady. more ...Buy-elections in Sabah a normal affair

Question: How effective is Umno and Pakatan co-ordinated attack against SAPP?

Yong: Well, for those who had read the newspaper...two giants...a federal government level, State government combined with 4 State governments, the Menteri Besar is here, the Penang CM is here and...all these people are here, some people got worried that Sabah local party will be knocked out by these 2 giants. On the ground you can see the PKR party workers, proud that they are wearing the Selangor badge, somehow when we met them at Tanah Merah, spoke to them in Hakka, they could not understand and we tried Cantonese but still they don't understand, so we asked them where were they from...from Selangor, they said. These are the things...they are using Selangor people people here...I supposed that other states are also sending people...Umno sending a lot of people...2 big giants against SAPP never before in the history in Malaysia.

Question: Will this be translated into votes?

Yong: They will backfire, could backfire with the huge presence of outsiders. I think the local people in Sabah would not like to see big guns coming here telling them what to do...they come only now in the by-election...they just come here with ... to patronize. As you can see the Chinese community leaders here are invited everyday for dinners...First is Muhyddin, followed by Hishamuddin, Chua Soi Lek, Liow Tiong Lai, Wee Kah Siong, Musa Aman. Even LDP, Gerakan, until not enough people to represent them. Their response when asked, "They invite we go lah", sincerity is not there. I told the associations, community leaders and people of Batu Sapi not to worry, after I win as member of parliament, I will come to see them, not before election when we are asking for vote...we will see them when we win.

This BN and Pakatan people..they all come here, the sincerity is doubtful ...for the first time in Malaysia, both governments, PR is government in 4 states, BN federal government, both are government...they are all here and the posters, huge flags, very expensive plastic made... which, seen by the people here as extravagant...not only the cost and the manpower to putting up.

Question: Why SAPP  become the common enemy

Yong: I think PR knows that they are way behind ...number 3. One of their efforts to catch up by attacking us. BN by today they think that they might lose. I think...up to yesterday, they are confident until Muhyiddin dinner when people walk out during his speech ... and he got a lukewarm response in the kampong, when Umno machinery is not working that well, you see our party workers are very motivated, I think for the first time in this campaign, BN realize that they might lose. So I think they have come out to a join attack SAPP. They want to nationalize Sabah, whether BN or PR "sama saja mah", as long as their side is concerned, when you have SAPP emerged ... neither BN nor PR in Sabah. I think they see that as major threat, not only in this by election but also the coming general election. But we will overcome this. Thank you.

Masalah Bahasa? balik belajar dulu baru jadi YB!

MASALAH berkomunikasi dalam Bahasa Malaysia bagi calon BN-PBS Datin Linda Tsen amat mendukacitakan rakyat kawasan Parlimen Batu Sapi kerana jika ditakdirkan Linda memenangi pilihanraya kecil ini pun tidak akan memberi makna langsung kerana Linda tidak dapat menyampaikan mesej dalam Bahasa ketika sidang Dewan Rakyat berlangsung dimana Bahasa merupakan sesuatu kemestian untuk menyampaikan hujah hujah beliau.

Usaha untuk memenangkan Linda adalah suatu perkara yang sia-sia kerana beliau tidak dapat menguasai Bahasa dengan tepat dan ini menjadi kerumitan baginya untuk menyampaikan mesej berhubung masalah rakyat di kawasan yang diwakilinya.

Adalah lebih baik Linda dihantar berkursus untuk memantapkan Bahasanya sebelum menjadi calon sebagai wakil tetapi mengapa Pairin dan Musa tidak terfikir masalah ini terlebih dahulu sebelum melaksanakannya. Ini bukan perkara remeh temeh tetapi ia melibatkan kepentingan RAKYAT.

Datin Linda Tsen merupakan anak watan negeri Sabah dan memulakan alam persekolahannya diSandakan, namun seusia lebih setengah abad itu agak mustahil Linda tidak dapat menguasai Bahasa dengan betul jika Linda seorang warganegara yang cintakan kedaulatan Bahasa Negara asalnya Malaysia.

RAKYAT perlu mengambilkira kepentingan Linda menjadi wakil rakyat sama ada boleh memberi perkhidmatan yang lebih baik dari suaminya suatu ketika dulu atau sekadar BN-PBS memperalatkan Linda sebagai sandaran untuk menang selesa di prk Batu Sapi berdasarkan simpati rakyat.

Sebaliknya, rakyat dalam konteks meraih daya kempimpinan yang dinamik di alaf baru tiada istilah mencuba cuba, atau soal simpati tetapi ia lebih menjurus kepada soal prestasi dan kewibawaan seseorang pemimpin yang mewakili Parlimen Batu Sapi, tidak kira dia dari golongan mana.

Pendeknya, Parlimen Batu Sapi bukanlah tempat bagi pemimpin yang baru belajar membaca, menulis atau bagi mereka yang baru memantapkan Bahasa. Oleh: PENGUNDI BATU SAPI

Yong tembusi kubu kuat Umno di Karamunting

SANDAKAN: Calon SAPP bagi prk Batu Sapi Datuk Yong Teck Lee terus menggempur kawasan kubu kuat UMNO-BN dimana kali ini kedatangan Yong di Kg Nanas Karamunting disambut dengan tangan terbuka penduduk penduduk di situ meskipun sebelum ini kawasan tersebut merupakan kawasan 'hardcore' penyokong UMNO.

Datuk Yong Teck Lee yang terkenal dengan sifat peramah dan mudah mesra sempat bergurau senda dengan penduduk di situ dengan kata kata yang berbentuk seloka dan kiasan ibarat kata kata bidalan 'orang berbudi kita berbahasa, orang memberi kita merasa".

Kata kata sedemikian disifatkan Yong antara kata kata yang penuh bersopan yang menjadi budaya hidup seharian rakyat Sabah sejak turun temurun dan bukan seperti diSemenanjong yang baru belajar mengenali senibudaya masyarakat lain dalam konteks 1Malaysia sepertimana yang dicetuskan Datuk Seri Najib Razak sebelum ini.

Begitu juga ceritanya dengan calon BN-PBS Datin Linda Tsen yang baru berjinak-jinak mahu mengenali BAHASA dan adat senibudaya kesukuan lain, tetapi kenapa tidak mengenalinya sebelum ini jika seseorang pemimpin itu ada kebertanggung jawapannya sebagai seorang warga seMalaysia.

Datuk Yong yang terkenal dengan kelantangan bersuara terus memberi keyakinan kepada rakyat Batu Sapi dan seluruh Sabah pada amnya bahawa misi dan visi kepimpinan beliau itu bukan tertumpu kepada satu kesukuan sahaja malah untuk keseluruhan kesukuan, tanpa mengira agama dan kepercayaan masing masing.

"Saya dan rakan rakan dalam SAPP komited untuk memperjuangkan hak hak kita sebagai rakyat Sabah yang telah tertindas oleh kerajaan kuku besi BN," jelas Yong.



Perhatian ini Demokrasi BN?

 "Perjuangan kita menerusi SAPP bukan berpura pura tetapi adalah perjuangan yang serius kerana kalau kita memilih untuk berdiam diri siapa lagi yang mampu berdiri untuk memperjuangkan hak hak kita bila kita rasakan ia sudah melangkawi batasan hak rakyat Sabah…demi rakyat, negeri dan bangsa kita, maka saya bangun untuk menggalas tanggung jawab ini," kata beliau.

Beliau sedar bahawa ia bukanya satu tugas yang mudah tetapi atas kesedaran dan CINTA KASIH beliau kepada negeri, bangsa dan rakyat Sabah yang semakin tertindas membuatkan beliau tidak sanggup melihatnya untuk membiarkan ia berlaku, sebaliknya beliau bingkas bangun untuk terus memperjuangkannya semata mata membela keadilan dan menuntut hak rakyat Sabah.

Siapa sebenarnya 'POWER CRAZY', Musa atau Yong?

KEMPEN prk Batu Sapi hanya tinggal berbaki beberapa hari sahaja lagi, lantaran itu tidak hairanlah kalau kempen BN yang diketuai Datuk Musa Aman Ketua Menteri Sabah terus berkeadaan mulut celupar yang menuduh Datuk Yong Teck Lee sebagai 'Power crazy' yang tersiar dalam Harian Ekspress keluaran hari ini.

Sebenarnya bukan Yong yang 'power crazy' seperti dakwaan Musa Amana sebaliknya beliau lah yang 'power crazy' kerana sanggup duduk dikerusi Ketua Menteri walaupun banyak tuduhan salahlaku dan Rasuah terhadapnya, tetapi beliau bernasib baik kerana SPRM lambat bertindak termasuk kes penggubalan wang di Hongkong yang melibatkan adik angkatnya Micheal Chia.

Sebagaimana yang rakyat Sabah sedia maklum khususnya pengundi Parlimen Batu Sapi, Datuk Yong Teck Lee bukanlah 'power crazy' tetapi rakyat Sabah dan pengundi Parlimen Batu Sapi mahukan Yong  duduk dikerusi Dewan Rakyat Parlimen Malaysia untuk membongkar dan menyuarakan suara hati rakyat Sabah tentang tuntutan kuasa autonomi dan 20 Perkara di Parlimen.

Kehadiran Yong di prk Batu Sapi bukan kehendak peribadi Yong tetapi sebagai memenuhi kehendak dan aspirasi rakyat Sabah dan juga para pengundi Batu Sapi supaya kemungkaran pemimpin BN Sabah dan Kuala Lumpur cepat ditangani pihak berkuasa seperti SPRM seterusnya untuk menegakkan kembali demokrasi dan keadilan yang sudah lama berkubur di Sabah.

Tuntutan pembangkang kuasa autonomi bukan lapok atau basi

POLITIK Sabah sejak tahun 1963 selepas Sabah, Sarawak dan Singapura yang turut sama MALAYA membentuk MALAYSIA tidak sunyi dari mengharungi pelbagai polimek politik dalaman. Tanpa kehadiran Sabah, Sarawak dan Singapura (tiba tiba keluar dari Malaysia 1965) tidak akan ada nama MALAYSIA disebut dicarta dunia malah di PBB hingga ke hari ini.

KERANA Sabah dan Sarawaklah Malaysia terus menjadi sebutan pemimpin pemimpin DUNIA salah satu Negara yang pesat membangun di rantau ASIA, termasuklah kewibawaan pemimpin pemimpin Negara ini mampu bersaing malah berkebolehan berfikir setara dengan kebijaksanaan pemimpin lain di DUNIA yang kita rakyat Sabah tidak boleh nafikannya.

BAGAIMANA PUN dari aspek politik wilayajnya khususnya Sabah dan Sarawak, pihak Kuala Lumpur masih mempunyai isu isu tertunggak yang belum diselesaikan sepenuhnya seperti mana yang terkandung dalam isu 20 Perkara yang dicadangkan oleh pemimpin pemimpin Sabah sekitar tahun 1962 terdiri dari Allahyarham Tun Fuad Stephen (sebelum Donald Stephen), Tun Mustapha, Datuk G.S Sundang dan Datuk Khoo Siak Chew dan beberapa pemimpin lain lagi.

Malahan kandungan 20 Perkara telah pun dibincang dalam mesyuarat IGC (inter Government Committee) bersama tiga wilayah seperti Sabah, Sarawak dan Malaya sebelum dimasukkan di dalam Perlembagaan Persekutuan yang menjadi kemelut isu rakyat Sabah dan Sarawak yang masih tidak berpuas hati dengan tindakan pemimpin Persekutuan bertindak menodai Perlembagaan itu sejak lebih 20 tahun lalu.

Namun tidak dapat dinafikan bahawa sejak kebelakangan ini iaitu selepas 'tsunami politik' tahun 2008 selepas PRU12 pemimpin Kuala Lumpur dalam keadaan terhimpit dan terdesak mahu tidak mahu walaupun sudah terlambat akhirnya mereka terpaksa tunduk kemahuan rakyat Sabah dan berjaya memecah kebuntuan isu 20 Perkara apabila perkara 4 (Borneosisasi) kerajaan Persekutuan telah melantik dua Pegawai Awam berasal dari Sabah mengetuai Jabatan Persekutuan diSabah.

Meskipun begitu, rakyat Sabah masih terus memburu saki baki isu ketidak puasan hati mereka yang mereka dakwa terdapat isu tertunggak belum ditunaikan seperti kuasa autonomi wilayah Sabah, Sabah for Sabahan dan keadilan pengagehan sumber kekayaan negeri Sabah seperti minyak dan Gas daripada 5 peratus kepada sekurang kurangnya 20 peratus.

Aspirasi rakyat berdasarkan maklumat 20 Perkara pada mulanya diperjuangkan oleh mantan Pengarah Insitut Kajian Sabah (IDS) Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan sekitar tahun 1990an ketika itu Sabah ditadbir oleh Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) pimpinan Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, membuatkan Jeffrey merengkok ke dalam tahan ISA selama lebih dua tahun.

Titik tolak daripada kejadian tersebut, secara tidak langsung ia telah menyemarakkan lagi api kebencian rakyat Sabah terhadap Kuala Lumpur yang rata ratanya menganggap penahan Jeffrey itu dirancang begitu rapi oleh pemimpin pemimpin Kuala Lumpur yang menidakkan terus hak dan tuntutan rakyat Sabah sepertimana yang terkandung dalam 20 Perkara. Lukewarm reception for Anwar, Muhyiddin

Holding high office does not seem to mean much to Batu Sapi voters, who gave a not-so-rousing reception to the nation's top politicians from both sides of the divide last night.

As the campaign for the parliamentary seat heats up, voters seem less inclined to entertain leaders flying in all the way from the Peninsula to make their pitch for their respective leaders.

Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin endured the red-faced embarrassment of seeing people getting up and leaving as he was giving his speech at a Majlis Mesra Rakyat at the Sandakan multi-purpose hall.

Prior to that, around half the hall emptied after the 700-odd invited guests were done listening to Chief Minister Musa Aman's speech on how development can only come through BN.

And considering that an 8pm dinner is considered late in Sandakan, the decision to have Muhyiddin speak at 10.20pm was obviously keeping the invited guests past their usual bed time.

To his credit, the deputy premier soldiered on with his speech, telling those remaining that the BN "means business" in making sure the country becomes a developed nation by 2020.

Muhyiddin acknowledged that the Batu Sapi by-election is an important gauge of public opinion on the current ruling coalition and its policies, but stressed that their competition is not capable of providing for the people.

Taking a jab at PKR candidate Ansari Abdullah's two falls into the sea, he said it was "bad feng shui" for PKR.

"Why choose him if he cannot do anything for you? I think if this seat is given away to others, it will be a sheer waste," he said.

Muhyiddin also countered Sapp president and Batu Sapi candidate Yong Teck Lee's Sabah for Sabahans slogan, calling it an "old story" that rings hollow among Sabahans themselves.

"This is an old story, and the people have moved forward. There are many Sabahans who hold important positions in the government," he said.

Hit and miss for Anwar

Pakatan Rakyat de-facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, meanwhile, received a mixed bag of results last night, as his star power that normally draws thousands in Peninsular Malaysia failed to get more than a few curious souls in Batu Sapi.

At his first stop at Tai Tong in Taman Mawar, hardly 100 people in the Chinese majority area turned up to listen to his brief address in support of their candidate, Ansari Abdullah.

His arrival did swell the numbers a bit from the earlier turnout of around 60 people and he managed to coax a bit of spirit from the assembled crowd when he declared Pakatan's plan to take over Sabah and Putrajaya, but their applause was few and far between.

Anwar had better luck at Kg Gas, where Ansari fell into the sea a second time earlier in the day, attracting an enthusiastic crowd of some 50 people.

His biggest challenge of the night however was Kg Lupak Meluas, where just 20 were in attendance to hear the former deputy premier speak.

Sensing their passiveness , Anwar took a more motivational approach, appointing all who attended as "special officers" for PKR's door-to-door campaign.

"Please inform all your friends and relatives to help organise such events, and ask everybody to attend. Then we can go in to the kampong," he told the crowd, which remained unimpressed.

'Voters still deciding'

Anwar, however, defended Pakatan's showing so far in this campaign, saying at a press conference this morning that Batu Sapi voters are not aggressive and are still keeping their options open.

He claimed that the Chinese are "shifting positively" towards Pakatan and away from Sapp, as the latter is still unclear in its stand against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's administration.

"The only clear thing from Sapp is Sabah for Sabahans, but Sabah autonomy can only be achieved through Pakatan Rakyat," he said.

Anwar admitted that BN goodies that come with by-elections may sway bumiputera voters, but remains optimistic about their chances.

"That is why we need to explain to them... ask for more gifts but when voting, vote for Pakatan," he said, adding that the mood towards Pakatan from bumiputera voters is good.

Kertas undi pos tiba hari ini

BAHANG pilihan raya kecil Parlimen Batu Sapi yang tinggal lima hari kian terasa dengan ketibaan kertas undi 1,535 pemilih pos di sini petang tadi. Kertas undi pemilih pos itu dibawa dari Kota Kinabalu dan dihantar ke Dewan Persidangan Majlis Perbandaran Sandakan pada 4.30 petang dan disambut sendiri oleh pegawai pengurus pilihan raya kecil bagi kawasan berkenaan, Sapi Mohd Hamsan Awang Supain.

Di dewan persidangan itu, semakan dilakukan terhadap kertas undi pos, antaranya membabitkan ejaan nama calon dan parti, susunan calon yang bertanding serta simbol parti.

Selain Mohd Hamsan dan penolong pegawai pengurusnya serta pegawai dari Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya, semakan turut membabitkan wakil parti bertanding iaitu Barisan Nasional (BN), Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) dan Parti Maju Sabah (SAPP).

Kertas undi pos itu kemudian dihantar ke Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah (IPD) Sandakan untuk disimpan.
Pengundian bagi pemilih pos akan dijalankan pada Isnin depan, dan membabitkan 663 anggota Pasukan Gerakan Am, Tentera Laut DiRaja Malaysia (601) serta dan IPD Sandakan (271).

Tiga pusat undi pos ialah di IPD Sandakan, ibu pejabat PGA Batu Sapi dan Kuarters TLDM di Batu 5.
Bagi 24,047 pemilih biasa, mereka akan membuang undi pada 4 Nov ini di 12 pusat mengundi membabitkan sebelas bangunan sekolah dan sebuah bangunan perpustakaan.

We must depend on ourselves: Yong's call

Politicians in Sabah do not know what they are doing, said Sapp president and Batu Sapi candidate Yong Teck Lee.

The former chief minister pointed out that Sabah is plagued by bad political culture that is excessively dependent on orders from the federal leadership.

"(The situation) now is a dependency on Kuala Lumpur. People who have been up there for so long are arrogant, and a lot of our leaders do not see the real reason why they are in politics," he said in an a recent interview.

"In our Sapp training course, the first question is why you are in politics. Only then we ask why you want to join Sapp. They must get this right... if you get this wrong, you have funny ideas, then the rest will go wrong," he said.

Yong, (left) who is contesting an election for the first time after nearly 10 years, defended his decision to pull his party out of the BN in 2008, pointing out that it is not a flip-flop like PBS led by its president Joseph Pairin Kitingan.

"I have not moved as much as Datuk Pairin. He's jumped from Berjaya to independent, from independent to PBS, then joined the BN and left the BN, and again joined the BN and left the BN and now he has joined the BN again.
"Whatever you do, it must be for a good reason and for the people," he said, justifying Sapp's decision to go it alone as an independent party.
'What have Musa, Pairin done?'

On BN's attacks that he had not achieved anything as chief minister, Yong shot back ,specifically at current Chief Minister Musa Aman and Pairin, who held the post from 1987 to 1994, saying both so far hold the record of the longest serving chief ministers.

"Datuk Musa has seven years, Pairin has nine years. Combined they have 16 years. None of the other chief ministers have served more than two years. Combined (under the rotation system), maybe they have seven to eight years.

"What have they (Musa and Pairin) done? Ask them this," he said.

Yong(standing extreme left in photo) also denied that his party's Sabah for Sabahans slogan is an "old issue" as described by deputy premier Muhyiddin Yassin, saying that it remains relevant as a function of the federal system practised by Malaysia.

"Kelantan has its own laws on autonomy, Johor had its private army under the Sultan, to visit Sarawak you still need to go through immigration... this is a federal system.

"Component states are allowed a higher degree of autonomy and for Sabah and Sarawak our autonomy is based on the 1963 (Malaysia) agreement. It does not jeopardise the function of Malaysia as a country.
"In fact, if the central government interferes too much in the state government, they will get into a lot of problems. People don't understand this such as in parliament, so that will be my job, to make sure that parliament will hear this," he said.

Hiew dan Bosi ejen BN di prk Batu Sapi?

Ini kah pemimpin dari DAP?

KEGHAIRAHAN dua  pemimpin DAP Dr Hiew King Cheu dan Dr Edwin Bosi melakukan serangan politik bertubi tubi keatas  calon  SAPP Datuk Yong Teck Lee menyebabkan kedua dua pemimpin itu terus terleka akan tanggung jawab mereka membantu calon PKR Haji Ansari Abdullah yang terus dilanda masalah terjatuh ke laut sebanyak dua kali dalam musim prk Batu Sapi ini.

Namun Hiew dan Bosi terus tidak mengendahkan masalah yang menghantui ‘kuda’ mereka itu, sebaliknya mereka lebih berminat  menfokuskan strategi buruk dan kebudak budakan mereka ‘mengacau’ SAPP dan Yong (mungkin atas nasihat dan arahan pihak tertentu)…siapa tahu?

Kehadiran mereka diprk Batu Sapi sebenarnya bukan untuk membantu melaksanakan tugas dan tanggung jawab bagi mempastikan kemenangan ‘kuda’ mereka tetapi sebaliknya lebih terarah kepada tugas membantu BN secara ‘halus’ dari dalam kerana mereka juga sedar bahawa kemenangan ‘kuda; mereka dalam prk Batu Sapi adalah tipis sekali.

Bagaimana pun gerak geri mereka telah dapat dihidu dan senantiasa diperhatikan oleh rakyat dan pengundi Batu Sapi yang meng-ibaratkan mereka ini cuba menjual ilmu silat tetapi menunjukkan  langkah silat yang 'sudah sumbang' mudah dipatahkan dan sedikit pun tidak menarik perhatian umum diBatu Sapi malah mereka 'meluat' melihatnya.

Inikah jenis pemimpin yang rakyat harap harapkan untuk meletakkan masa depan rakyat dilandasan yang betul, apalagi untuk memperjuangkan hak asasi rakyat Sabah seperti perjuangan untuk mengembalikan kuasa autonomi Sabah, termasuklah mengembalikan Pulau Labuan sebagai hak Pentadbiran Sabah dan membetulkan pengagehan kekayaan sumber galian asli (Gas) kepada yang berpatutan.

Mungkinkah Hiew tidak faham rintihan rakyat Sabah terhadap ketidak adilan kuasa Kuala Lumpur keatas Sabah selama ini atau Hiew sengaja buat tidak tahu kerana takut menyuarakan isu itu kerana DAP dan bossnya juga berasal dari Semenanjung sama dengan UMNO dan PAS.

Jika itulah salah satu dari penyebabnya, adalah lebih baik rakyat Sabah harus melupakan sahaja Hiew, Bosi dan DAP termasuk PKR dan PAS yang tergolong dalam PR, dan kemudiannya rakyat Sabah hanya perlu menfokuskan SAPP sebagai landasan perjuangan rakyat Sabah yang dikira lebih senang dalam perkiraan 'matematik' politik Sabah masakini.

Percaturan dalam prk Parlimen Batu Sapi, SAPP tidak perlu memberi muka atau tersinggung sangat dengan 'provokasi' Hiew dan Bosi dimana tujuan dan matlamat kedua dua pemimpin DAP berijajah Kedoktoran ini tidak lain dan tidak bukan sekadar menjadi 'pengacau ibarat hantu balan balan yang kempunan menhisap darah manusia' tetapi juga boleh dilabelkan sebagai tokoh politik 'murahan dan tidak beretika'.

Sebaliknya kepimpinan SAPP yang cukup kemas dan berwawasan di bawah teraju mantan Ketua Menteri Sabah Datuk Seri Panglima Yong Teck Lee terus mendapat sambutan dan pujian rakyat pelbagai lapisan etnik dan keagamaan diSabah yang kini hanya menunggu rakyat akan menobatkan beliau sebagai ‘wakil rakyat baru’ untuk Parlimen Batu Sapi dalam beberapa hari lagi berlandaskan sokongan rakyat Batu Sapi terus menyakini dan mendampingi beliau.

I have been fighting for autonomy all along - Yong

SANDAKAN, Oct 30, 2010: Datuk Seri Panglima Yong Teck Lee said he has been fighting for Sabah autonomy for a long time.

In fact, the Sabah Progressive Party President revealed that several of his successes in protecting the right and autonomy of the state were achieved when he was in the Cabinet between 1994 and 1998.

Yong was the Local Government and Housing Minister between 1994 and 1996 and the Chief Minister between May 1996 and 1998.

"I had rejected the extension of the Local Government Act to Sabah in 1995 and maintenained the Local Government Ordinance under Sabah. I also rejected the extension of the Indah Water Consortium to take over the sewerage services in Sabah in 1996 and two years later, I rejected the extent ions if the Employment Act, insisting on the Sabah Labour Ordinance, with upgrading of the employment laws.

"In 1997, I rejected the federal approval of gaming licence, regained state power to export round logs that was stopped by the Malaysian Timber Industry Board in the Parti Bersatu Sabah era and regained state power to jointly handle the foreign worker issues," Yong said, naming a few... more

SAPP coup possible in Batu Sapi

SAPP's chances appear to be on an uptrend in the Batu Sapi by-election, as early predictions lean towards a possible coup.

The reading is that SAPP's president and Batu Sapi candidate Yong Teck Lee is benefitting from a lack of challenge from rivals Ansari Abdullah (PKR) and Linda Tsen Thau Lin (BN).

SAPP, that is working hard to steal a chunk of bumiputera votes from the BN, is seen as having a strong footing among the Chinese who make up a sizeable minority at nearly 40 percent of the 25,582 registered voters in Batu Sapi.

BN's Tsen, the widow of Edmund Chong Ket Wah who held the seat until his fatal motorcycle accident three weeks ago, however has the support of the mighty BN election machinery, and Umno that commands strong support from the majority bumiputera Muslim voters.

It is, however, not these two who provide the intrigue but PKR, that despite having the weakest campaign machinery of the three, is poised to dictate the outcome of the Nov 4 polls.

For despite Ansari's sluggish campaign beginnings, the opposition coalition's assault is expected to pick up pace with the influx of national Pakatan leaders hitting the campaign trail over the next few days.

Among the key leaders already in Batu Sapi are Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim and 'Sibu miracle' MP Wong Ho Leng, who are expected to give Chinese voters something to think about , while PAS leaders Mahfuz Omar and Mohamad Sabu is hoping to sway the bumiputera Muslim sentiments.

Pakatan de facto chief Anwar Ibrahim also arrived yesterday night to lend his star power, and is expected to join DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang for a ceramah later tonight.

PKR possible kingmakers

As it stands, the opposition can hope for at least 5,771 votes, based on the outcome of the last contest in Batu Sapi.

In that contest during the March 2008 general election, the late incumbent Chong defended the seat with 9,479 votes in a straight fight with independent candidate Chong Kwong Wing, who earned a respectable 5,771 votes.

The impressive number of votes garnered by the challenger despite lacking in campaign machinery as an independent candidate, indicates that there is a sizeable pool of hardcore opposition supporters in the parliamentary constituency.

Assuming the same voter turnout and that the opposition will retain the support of the anti-establishment vote, it follows that SAPP's chances depend highly on how well it competes with PKR.

Another factor will be how successful both opposition parties are at hacking away at BN's majority.
Should the pro-opposition voters be split 70-30 between SAPP and PKR, that would translate to 4,040 and 1,731 votes respectively.

From there, the opposition needs to collectively steal 40 percent of the BN's 9,479 votes if SAPP hopes to have a shot at winning this contest.

That is, if both SAPP and PKR can snag 20 percent each (1,898 votes), it should give Yong a victory as his final tally would be 5,938 votes, ahead of BN's 5,687 and PKR's 3,629.

PKR chances slim

This scenario however does not guarantee Yong a win, as it depends entirely on the split in support between the two opposition parties.

Anything under 20 percent for SAPP would mean the opposition effectively hands victory over to the BN on a silver platter.

Looking at voter demographics, SAPP will benefit from PKR making inroads into pro-BN bumiputera voters, while BN stands to gain if PKR whittles away at Chinese support for SAPP.
