Batu Sapi, October 28, 2010: Sabah Progressive Party's (SAPP) Datuk Yong Teck Lee has issued a bold challenge to Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman to debate on Sabah autonomy and its rights as enshrined in the 1963 Malaysia agreement.
Yong, a former chief minister, mocked Musa today for brushing aside the issues of Sabah autonomy and the Sabah-for-Sabahans concept by allegedly calling them "outdated", reminding the chief minister that without Sabah, there was no Malaysia.
"These issues are not outdated. They are long overdue," Yong (picture) declared at a packed press conference at his party's election operations centre here this afternoon.
The SAPP president, who has fast been gaining support for his bid in the Batu Sapi by-election, challenged Musa to take him on in a public debate at "the largest hall" or at Dewan Hakka at Mile 6 in Sandakan between 12pm and 2pm this Sunday.
"We will be there at 11.30am. We will show him that these issues are long overdue by 47 years. If he does not come, then he is outdated.
"But whether he comes or not, we will be there," he promised.
When speaking to reporters in Sandakan on Tuesday, Musa had said the SAPP's slogans of "Sabah for Sabahans" and "Autonomy for Sabah" were no longer applicable as the state was now under Malaysia.
"That is an old story. We are now as one in Malaysia, a nation that is peaceful and prosperous. We all also live in peace and harmony," local newspaper Daily Express had quoted him as saying.
Today, however, Yong whipped out proof that the Sabah autonomy was very much a relevant issue, as it had been one of the contributing factors in the Malaysia agreement on July 9, 1963.

Don't bother la Datuk. Musa can only 'count' not 'speak'. Pity him, handicap tak sama. It's gonna be like a debate between a Form 5 student and a kindergarten student. Where got fun!

This is not just a matter to debate but Yong and Sabahan must look into it seriously!
ReplyDeleteHow can it be Malaysia if without Sabah as part of it and laid with its agreement at that time.No one can challenge this right and sweep the history under carpet not even saying it is outdated.
If that is the case then effort by past leadership in Sabah Tun Fuad Stephen,Khoo Sak Chiu and many were wasted. Some did it for our sabahan's future and even sacrificed themselves!
SAPP not only for Batu Sapi but must fight on to take up this as an abuse and a serious case of 'outdating history and stete agreement'in formation of Malaysia.
Knowing well as a lawyer himself Yong Teck Lee should pursue this not solely as 'debate' but a 'Prima facia' must be established
for anyone try to challebge law and changing course of history.No past there is no future for any thus respect history specially as No.1 the state!
SAPP must get it down with a report for future reference to parliament debate.This is MP's responsibility and role to bring it out.Isn't Batu Sapi a parliamentary by-election?
What Ansari has said too for Sabah but is he going to stand in hand for this also a prominent lawyer?
No one or any nation can challenge Sabah agreement in formation of Malaysia.
Do not try to rewrite a wrong history for our future.

Prima facie evidence of a fact, is in law sufficient to establish the fact, unless rebutted.

DSAI will be in today Batu Sapi but is Sabahan's wish he come in from the main door wearing a 'hat'.

"Be prepared" often we hear in scouting but never solely want to as simply a recommendation!
Then sabahan can see who is the right candidate in this campaign really prepare and defend your right.
Choose the right one to defend and fight away Goliath(intruder) in politics on Nov 4 for Batu Sapi.You do or will never in today history.

ReplyDeleteI think Batu Sapi voters should send a GOOD MESSAGE to the BN and Federal Government. For the sake of Sabah and Sabahans. As many of you say, we sabahans have been played out too many times for long by the BN. If BN is serious ( Especially UMNO) wants support from Sabahans than they have to give us what is due and proper. By voting the opposition in this election, it won't change the government but it might change The BN's attitude towards how to fight for Sabah. If we vote the BN we ARE SAYING IT'S okay TO CONTINUE DOING WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN DOING FOR THE LAST 47YRS.....TIME TO SPEAK YOUR MINDS BATU SAPI......DO IT FOR THE SAKE OF SABAH...AND YOUR SACRIFICE WILL BE LONG REMEMBERED BY OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS.....

ReplyDeleteMasa PBS dulu memerintah dan sangat lantang menuntut 20 perkara namun kita tidak bersatu malahan banyak pemimpin2 keluar daripada perjuangan asal...salah satunya siapa?..
Sekarang SAPP melaung-laungkan 20 perkara, dan sebagainya tapi hakikatnya siapa YTL sebenarnya dan mungkinkah agenda politik beliau ada hasratnya tersendiri.

BATU SAPI = ETNIK BUMIPUTRA SABAH ADA LEBIH DARIPADA 32 KAUM. SABAH DIAKUI OLEH REJIM BARISAN NASIONAL BAHAWA SABAH ADALAH CONTOH TERBAIK KONSEP 1MALAYSIA.
